ABOUT

Note: QuizSlides was discontinued on September 1st, 2023. Our demo quizzes no longer work.

Overview

QuizSlides is an innovative cloud-based quiz platform that enables easy creation of online quizzes from PowerPoint slides. It currently supports four different quiz formats:

These include novel multiple-choice test formats and marking schemes which have been designed to yield more reliable aggregate scores as compared with traditional multiple-choice tests by reducing the occurrence of guesswork. For more information about this see: Bush, M., 2015. Reducing the need for guesswork in multiple-choice tests. Assessment & Evaluation in Higher Education, 40(2), pp.218-231

Why should you use QuizSlides?

  • Use of PowerPoint (or similar) enables easy creation of multiple-choice questions in any language.
  • Download a spreadsheet showing who has taken each quiz, their scores, and how they answered each question.
  • Question slides and information slides can each contain multiple images, mathematical symbols, etc.
  • Create interactive answer-until-correct revision quizzes that provide immediate feedback for effective learning.
  • Create engaging educational slideshows that present new learning material together with integrated quiz questions, as in this demo learning package.
  • Create multiple-choice tests to assess your students' knowledge and understanding.
  • Innovative quiz formats supported by published academic research that has demonstrated their positive impact.
  • Quizzes can be taken on smartphones, tablets or traditional computers.
  • PDF certificates can be issued after successful quiz completion; this is ideal for training and certification.
  • There is no need to set up accounts for students on the QuizSlides platform, so you can get started quickly.
  • We can help with every aspect of multiple-choice test design and development of institutional guidelines.
  • We offer custom feature development and bespoke branding with your institution logo and colour scheme.
  • The QuizSlides platform can be used independently or integrated within a VLE/LMS such as Moodle or Canvas.
  • Question Order Shuffling: present your quiz questions in a random order to each quiz taker.
  • Question Banks: present a selected number of your quiz questions chosen at random (and in a random order) to each quiz taker.

How to create a quiz in QuizSlides

We developed QuizSlides in collaboration with London South Bank University, Swansea University and Cornell University. We also have a partnership agreement with Instructure, the creators of the Canvas LMS.

Our story

Our story started here: [Bush, M., 1999. Alternative marking schemes for on-line multiple choice tests. In 7th Annual Conference on the Teaching of Computing, Belfast]. We developed the first version of QuizSlides in 2011. Since then we've learned a lot more about novel multiple-choice tests, what makes a great quiz platform, and how to run a sustainable business. We and our team developed our new platform in 2018. We hope you like it! Martin & Lucia.
